I went to Sephora today and the lady talk me into buying this! The company that makes it is a US company but they import all of the botanical ingredients from Iceland. So, the lady tells me. Interesting.
What's in it and how does it work?
Ingredients: Cloudberry Seed oil and Red Cranberry Seed oil.
The two ingredients contain moisturizing essential fatty acids and Tocotrienols ( Tocotrienols are one of the two molecule groups that makes up Vitamin E ...the other molecule is tocopherols.. For inquisitives out there)
They are powerful antioxidants which helps counteract the signs of aging.
Also has....Butterfly Bush and Thyme Extracts.
I have never heard of Butterfly Bush Extract before. I read up on it and the leaves are used for the extract. They can also be used to treat a pest if you have a garden but there are no negative effects on humans. I am talking about the extract...NOT the butterfly bush itself. It is a plant or bush.
They are both antioxidants which alleviate and help counteract the detrimental effects of environmental stressors on skin. Especially if you live in the city and are constantly breathing in petrol fumes, exposed to cigarette smoking, pollution, or simply touching your face without washing your hands after using the public phone, keyboard, mouse, refrigerator door handle..all the things we tend to not think twice about.
It also has Icelandic glacial water infused with minerals and Angelica Archangelica which is a icelandic medicinal herb.
It is suppose to hydrate, nurture and rejuvenate the skin.
My thoughts:
I think it feels wonderful! It's spongy in texture, it's lightweight and definitely doesn't feel oily and when applied to the skin there are tingly sensations and it feels like it is tightening the skin around my eye.
The packaging: It's clean and simple. The marketing scheme is just that. When we think of Iceland, we think clean air, cold clean crisp water running down the crystalized glaciers and minerals seeping the icelandic ocean floor. The packaging instantly gives that illusion.
I do like the jar that the cream comes in. It is neat and tidy and I love to stare at it.
The cost:
It is 46.00 dollars for 14 g or .49 oz. It is a little over $3.25 for 1g.
All I would like to know is how did they add the glacial water with minerals in each jar? I'd be curious to know.
Now, you really have to question..how much of these minerals, extracts are REALLY going to be beneficial to the skin? If it has trace amounts...probably not much. They might add these minerals and herbs to entice the buyer to purchase the product but only enough to legally label it on the ingredient list but not enough to make a difference, perhaps?
Just so you know, most of the botanical ingredients mentioned..is at the bottom of the ingredient list. The ingredient list are listed from More to Least. FYI.
If you want some of the benefit in the ingredients they added such as the Cranberry and Cloudberry seed oil...honestly..intake more vitamin E supplements or eat more avocado. If anything, that will probably work better than some jar.
It's just a thought and something to ponder on...if you even care.
Would I repurchase?
For the reason that i think it feels super amazing around my eye area because of the tightness feeling and tingly sensation it brings when i put it on. Its also a huge plus that it is not oily and I do love the texture. In fact, I'm in love with it. I'm sold on the packaging..and I don't think it's that super expensive either. I've yet to go through a jar of eye cream..so it might last me a while.
Until something better comes along or an identical organic product pops up on the shelves, I'm honestly going to stick with this. Most eye creams are oily and/or leave a residue..and that will be my main reason for repurchasing this...it feels amazing!
Since I bought the product today...i can't tell you whether or not if it works on dark circles..but I have noticed that it does brighten up my eye area. I don't suffer from puffy eyes, so can't say if it works for that. I hardly have any wrinkles around or underneath my eyes..so..i don't know if it works on wrinkled areas.
The product says that it does work on dark circles, puffiness and wrinkles..but i'll let you be the judge of that if you purchase the product.
The idea behind the product is that chronic stress depletes the skin of oxygen and moisture hence the deeper lines, dark circles and more puffiness. Once you apply this cream, it's suppose to add what was missing from your skin in the first place.
If you're curious about the product, I say go to the nearest Sephora shop and buy it. If you hate it, return the product within 60 days. Simple.
I have tried a sample of their serum and moisturizer...and i wasn't too deeply impressed. Eye cream was definitely worth looking at in my opinion.
Last words:
I am truly IN LOVE with the texture and it feels AMAZING!!!!! I cannot stress that enough...it's DIVINE!!!!! It's BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
I have yet to see another product identical to this. (at least for now)
